01Overview

The 1UR-FE routes exhaust gas through a water-cooled EGR cooler and a step-motor EGR valve into the intake manifold, with internal EGR also handled by Dual VVT-i. Over time the EGR passages and valve carbon up, and Lexus has issued a service bulletin (P006A, debris in the EGR assembly) for exactly this on the GX460. Our kit removes the external circuit entirely: clean intake charge, lower intake temperatures, and one fewer thing to clog or leak in the notoriously busy engine valley.

02Why delete it

    ECU path, required on OEM-ECU vehiclesThe step-motor valve is monitored by the factory OBD-II computer, so on a stock truck the kit pairs with an ECU tune (or EGR simulator) to clear the EGR codes. Standalone-managed swaps need nothing extra.

05Electronics & install

Unlike the older 1UZ-FE, the 1UR-FE uses an electronic stepper EGR valve with position feedback, so a resistor trick will not satisfy the ECU. Physically blocking it on a factory-ECU vehicle will set P0401 / P0404 / P006A and a check-engine light until the EGR monitors are disabled with a tune or simulated. Good news: the platform is genuinely tunable, and established shops already flash the GX460 / Land Cruiser / Tundra ECU and TCU. On a swap running standalone engine management, there is no factory ECU to satisfy and the kit is purely mechanical.

Designed to the part, not guessed. Plate geometry is taken from the OEM EGR gasket footprint and verified against the actual valve and intake face, so it bolts to the factory mounting surface without modification.
